Nature's massive energy... Bondi is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning the sound of breaking waves. There are Aboriginal Rock carvings on the northern end of the beach

remembers me of that black day.

1937
A shark net is laid about 150m off the beach, set in 8m of water. Older days there were too many fatality due to sharks. There has been no shark fatality since 1937.

Raw Black and Raw White.

The average water temperature at Bondi Beach in summer is 21 degrees. The average water temperature in September/October is 16 degrees. to say 'warmer beach'.

Today I want to experiment with the very basic colors, Black and White. Who hates ?

Bondi Beach is approximately one kilometre long. It is the widest beach in the Sydney region.

Waves & Colors.

Bondi has a number of cafes and restaurants which look out over the beach and makes a great place to stay and visit.

I feel long exposures are always interesting.

one of my favourite pic. exposed 1 sec and this is what my camera seen.

Large numbers of tourists visit Bondi Beach throughout the year, and many Irish and British tourists spend Christmas Day there.

Bondi is well known for its great sandy beach, as well as its surf. It is a modern and trendy coastal resort, which is very popular.

Bondi Beach. pronounce as 'BONDAI'. Bondi Beach is one of Australia's most famous beaches and among the world's most well-known beaches.

i was late to this place and could only reach this view of both the architectures, so thought of learning my camera with all the parameters set on it. sorry for the same angle shots, but everything is different on its own.

this composition attracts me, trust me i have to walk more than a kilometre to reach here only to take this shot.

In 1932, the average annual daily traffic was around 11,000 and now it is around 160,000 vehicles per day.

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel was built to cope with ever increasing harbour traffic problems and opened in August 1992 . It is 2.3 kilometres long and cost A$554 million to construct. It is strong enough to withstand the impact of eathquakes and sinking ships. It carries around 75,000 vehicles a day.

In 1932, 96 steam locomotives were positioned in various ways to test the load capacity of the Bridge.

One of Australia's well known celebrities, Paul Hogan, was one of the painters contracted to give the Bridge another 270,000 litre coat of paint.

Did you know...
The top of the arch actually rises and falls about 180 mm due to changes in the temperature!

The Pylon Lookout is at the southern eastern end of the Bridge (the Rocks end) and visitors can go and see an exhibition about the Bridge and well as see the spectacular 360° view from the top of the pylon.

By all reports, BridgeClimb is fantastic and one of the 'must dos' while on a trip to Sydney with royals and celebrities such as Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark, Matt Damon, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Ferguson, Cathy Freeman, Kylie Minogue and Kostya Tszyu all having done the Climb and not to forget..

venkat alias srikanth also climbed the bridge.

BridgeClimb started in 1998 and attracts tourists and locals alike to climb the monument. After climbing through catwalks and up ladders and stairs, the view is absolutely breathtaking. There are day, twilight and night climbs and a group of twelve will leave for a climb every ten minutes. The safety precautions taken include a blood alcohol reading and a Climb Simulator, which shows Climbers the climbing conditions that might be experienced on the Bridge.

As many as 800 families living in the Bridge's path were relocated and their homes demolished without any compensation given when the Bridge started construction. Sixteen workers lives were lost during construction of the Bridge.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge construction started in 1924 and took 1400 men eight years to build at a cost of £4.2 million. Six million hand driven rivets and 53,000 tonnes of steel were used in its construction. It now carries eight traffic lanes and two rail lines, one in each direction, but at the time of its construction the two eastern lanes were tram tracks. They were converted to road traffic when Sydney closed down its tram system in the 1950s.

It took some time for this to become a reality with design submissions invited in 1900. All the submissions were considered unsuitable and so the momentum for the bridge crossing stopped.

Uses 6225 square metres of glass and 645 kilometres of electric cable

History of the Sydney Harbour Bridge
It was as early as 1815 that Francis Greenway proposed building a bridge from the northern to the southern shore of the harbour.

Fondly known by the locals as the 'Coathanger', the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrated its 70th birthday in 2002, with its official opening in March 1932.

Has roof sections held together by 350 kms of tensioned steel cable
Has over 1 million tiles on the roof
Uses 6225 square metres of glass and 645 kilometres of electric cable

Is 185 metres long and 120 metres wide
Has 2194 pre-cast concrete sections as its roof
Has roof sections weighing up to 15 tons

Provides guided tours to 200,000 people each year
Has an annual audience of 2 million for its performances
Includes 1000 rooms

Cost $AU 102,000,000 to build
Conducts 3000 events each year

Was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20 October 1973, and the boat you see in the picture is the one filmed for INDIAN - Telephone mani pol song.

After more than 30 years, the Sydney Opera House has its first interior designed by Utzon. The Utzon Room, a transformed reception hall that brings to life Jorn Utzon's original vision for his masterpiece, was officially opened on September 16 2004.

The building was eventually completed by others in 1973.

In 1966 the situation - with arguments about cost and the interior design, and the Government withholding progress payments - reached crisis point and Jorn Utzon resigned from the project.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of Australia's most well known and photographed landmarks. It is the world's largest (but not the longest) steel arch bridge with the top of the bridge standing 134 metres above the harbour.

The venture experienced cost blow-outs and there were occasions when the NSW Government was tempted to call a halt.

Utzon's design was chosen. The irony was that his design was, arguably, beyond the capabilities of engineering of the time. Utzon spent a couple of years reworking the design and it was 1961 before he had solved the problem of how to build the distinguishing feature - the 'sails' of the roof.

Ironic, perhaps, that this Australian icon - the Opera House with a roof evocative of a ship at full sail - was designed by renowned Danish architect - Jorn Utzon.

The Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point, which reaches out into the harbour. The skyline of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the blue water of the harbour and the Sydney Opera House, viewed from a ferry or from the air, is dramatic and unforgettable.

Although only having been open since 1973, it is as representative of Australia as the pyramids are of Egypt and the Coliseum of Rome.

Not only is it recognisable, it has come to represent 'Australia'.

Sydney Opera House must be one of the most recognisable images of the modern world - up there with the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building - and one of the most photographed.
